Had not originally booked to stay here, we came here as our original choice was awful. Its one of the best decisions my partner and I had ever made. The room was beautiful and so comfortable and clean. We explained to the reception staff member (Jane) about our previous booked accommodation and that it was my partner and I's joint birthday present and she kindly called the manager over (I didn't get his name unfortunately) but he upgraded us to a suite. We were very overwhelmed with the generosity of this hotel. The swimming pool was lovely and the whirlpool was fab. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Thank you all so much.
Nice hotel, great customer services. Drinks on arrival. Swimming pool needs to be booked in advance which is good - prevents over crowding. Free WiFi and the Chinese restaurant attached is pricey but nice food. Breakfast could have had more options for vegetarians (fish fingers etc) but it was ok. Would stay again

Lovely buffet menu last night. Lots of variety on both starters and main meal. Good mix of vegetarian and meat options. My favourite was the tradition hot carrot pudding with ice cold good quality vanilla ice cream. Would definitely choose that again. C. Ledson
Baylis House is a beautiful building. Historic reviews have been quite negative, but the hotel has since had a recent change of management. The staff were all friendly and took time to make my nine year old daughter feel welcome and special. Paul, in charge of breakfast, was particularly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely - the sausages were very tasty. The only negatives I could find were with the hotel's website and with aspects of the room itself. The website isn't particularly user friendly or informative. It all seemed rather vague. Our room was clean and had all the facilities we required. Unfortunately, the walls could do with a fresh coat of paint, the mattress would benefit from a replacement or a good airing, the bath plug kept unplugging itself, and the walls were a little thin. However, the bed was comfortable, and the rather warm room soon cooled down with the air con. The communal and dining areas were clean and tastefully furnished. The location of the hotel is great. We enjoyed our stay after a long day at Legoland, and found our car journey to the hotel to be quick and straightforward.

I have photographed wedding there and this place is just perfect. My couple decided to do engagement session there as well. We walked around the lake and were amazed how beautiful and peaceful is there. My bride was getting ready there and those rooms have fantastic light which is very important to create beautiful, soft and natural photos. I love how they decorate wedding reception and was very impressed how big attention to details they have. All the staff was very polite especially huge thank you to Patrick the toastmaster who was making sure that everything went as should be, and everyone was happy.
We have been here for afternoon tea and bottomless lunch (The Roast) The menu advertised online lists several vegan options. This is why we returned here as my brother in law is a vegan. They claimed that the vegan menu was limited to a month yet couldn't answer why the menu was still online?? Think we were fed a load of BS. There was only two it her tables eating there today and service was slow. My starter was good (pork belly and beetroot). Main was a little cold and the rib eye was served quite rare (I was never given any option). My wife's main was served 5 minutes after everyone else and despite asking for dairy and soy free they still served it with coliflour cheese. The dish then went back. The mile feuille pastry was style over substance and came with a rather unnecessary basil ice cream. Style over substance is a good description of this place. The food just needs to be better. Afternoon tea was better than the bottomless lunch.

The food is good as most chef and brewers are. The beer was nice. The staff friendly and helpful. The only criticism is how long the meals take to get to you. Apart from this, great stuff
Prompt service at lunchtime with reasonable lunchtime menu. I had sea bass fillets cooked beautifully with two fillets @ £7.99 ( included wilted spinach and new potatoes). Often double that price for only one fillet at other places. Very pleasant staff. Plenty of parking. Good clean toilets. Rest of our party very pleased with fish and chips but there is a very varied menu available.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
